The involved officer, Ryan Wilson, has been placed on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of this investigation. Patrolman Wilson has worked in law enforcement since May 14, 2014 and has been employed by the Crandon Police Department for nearly two years. Prior to joining the Crandon Police Department, Wilson was employed by the Forest County Sheriff’s Office.

The Wisconsin DOJ-led investigation of this incident has been a collaboration between DCI, the Wisconsin State Patrol, Forest County Coroner, and the Forest County Sheriff’s Office. The Crandon Police Department has been fully cooperating with DCI during this investigation.

DCI is continuing to collect evidence and determine the facts of this incident and will turn over investigative reports to the Forest County District Attorney when the investigation concludes.
