Mitchell R. Crowe, age 27, was sentenced on June 19, 2018, to 3 years in prison and 15 years supervised release following his guilty plea to sexual contact with an underage female in violation of Title 18 United States Code Sections 2244(a) (2) and 1153.
The three year prison term was the statutory maximum term. As part of his sentence, Crowe must also comply with sex offender registry requirements. Those requirements mandate Crowe to advise registry officials where he is living, working or attending school.
Between June and August 2016, while on the Menominee Indian Reservation, Crowe had sexual contact with an underage female. Further, Crowe admitted to doing so after the minor consumed alcohol and marijuana thereby rendering her incapable of appraising the nature of the situation.
In imposing his sentence, Chief Judge William C. Griesbach stressed the serious nature of the offense, including the efforts Crowe took to gain the trust of minor, only to later exploit that trust by having sexual contact with her.
