MADISON, Wis. – July 14, 2016 – With the approval of the Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS), Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield (Anthem) expanded its Medicaid service offerings for BadgerCare Plus and Medicaid Supplemental Security Income (SSI) to Dane, Florence, Marquette, Menominee, Polk and Taylor counties, effective July 1, 2016. “

Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield administers BadgerCare Plus and Medicaid SSI benefits on behalf of DHS.
BadgerCare Plus is a health care coverage program for low-income Wisconsin residents. Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield is one of 18 health insurance companies administering BadgerCare Plus benefits.
Supplemental Security Income is a government program that provides stipends to low-income people who are age 65 or older, blind or disabled. These individuals automatically qualify for Medicaid coverage. Anthem is one of 10 health insurance companies administering Medicaid SSI benefits.
BadgerCare Plus and Medicaid SSI members who are eligible for managed care may select the health insurance company that they want to administer their benefits, such as Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield. Individuals who do not make a selection are auto-assigned to a benefits administrator by DHS.
With the July 1 expansion, Anthem serves BadgerCare Plus and Medicaid SSI members in 35 Wisconsin counties: Brown, Calumet, Dane, Dodge, Door, Florence, Fond du Lac, Forest, Green Lake, Jefferson, Kenosha, Kewaunee, Langlade, Manitowoc, Marinette, Marquette, Menominee, Milwaukee, Oconto, Outagamie, Ozaukee, Polk, Portage, Racine, Rock, Shawano, Sheboygan, Taylor, Walworth, Washington, Waukesha, Waupaca, Waushara, Winnebago and Wood.
